Canon is proud to announce a new telephoto zoom lens EF70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM designed to meet the exacting requirements of professionals and advanced users, in applications ranging from photojournalism to sports photography.
This large diameter f/2.8 lens offers telephoto 70-200mm focal range, but significantly improved over its predecessor in terms of optical quality, performance and durability.
Using fluorite lens element and larger number of UD lenses, chromatic aberration is minimized, and ghosting and flaring frequently seen with DSLRs has also been reduced through optimized lens disposition and coatings. In addition, a circular 8-leaf aperture for that creates natural blurring which gives you more expressive shots with a shallow depth of field.
In terms of performance, the EF70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM is equipped with a new 4-stop IS unit specially designed for this lens. Incorporating Canon’s latest innovations in image stabilization such as an ultra-compact stepping motor and friction-reducing mechanisms in the stabilizing optics barrel, this new IS system gives the lens a 4-stop advantage when switched on.
Autofocus performance has also been improved, with ring USM drive and high speed CPU with improved AF algorithms offering fast, quiet autofocus. Full-time manual focussing is also supported.
The lens has also been designed for reliable performance under harsh conditions, featuring magnesium alloy construction for its main components, and improved dust and waterproofing.
Combining rugged construction, superb image quality and high performance, the EF70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM is set to become another classic for professionals and advanced users, a worthy successor of the model it replaces.
